If you are travelling to Kuala Lumpur (KL) or staying there, Genting Highlands and Batu Caves are two places which are worth a visit.

Batu Caves is collection of Caves on a limestone hill situated just 15 km from the city of KL. There is a 140 Feet statue of Lord Murugan, which is the tallest statue in Malaysia. There are a couple of Cave Temples and a Multi-coloured set of stairs, which leads to the main cave. This is a place of a great variety of Natural Flora and Fauna and is a dream location for Botanists, Zoologists, Cavers and Adventurers. You can explore the caves or go rock climbing if you have some time.

Genting Highlands is about 55 KM from KL and takes about an hour from the city. You can reach the lower part of the Hill and then take the Cable Cars from there. There is ample parking available near the Cable Car Station. The Cable Cars take you from the lower part of the Hill to the Highlands. The journey takes about 15-20 minutes and offers excellent views of the hills and the surrounding forests. Do keep in mind though that this Cable Car system is pretty popular and has long waiting time.

The Cable Car takes you to the Hill Station of Genting Highlands which is touted as the Las Vegas of Malaysia. This place is 6000 Feet above Sea Level and has Casinos, Massive Shopping Malls, Enormous Food Courts and Recreation Centres. The place also has a Golf Course and the largest Strawberry Farm in Malaysia. There are quite a few hotels in Genting Highlands. This Place offers plenty of things to do for a few days.

If you just have one day to spare in KL, you can cover both Batu Caves and Genting Highlands. Of course, in one day, you will not be able to do all the activities, however, it will give you a good idea about these places.
