As the country is unlocking, we are starting to get used to the New Normal. Bangalore has opened up and most of the businesses have started operating even though the threat of the virus still looms.
Shopping Malls in Bangalore, too, have opened up after putting in a number of Safety Features. We saw that the crowds have also started returning to the Malls. Of course, the footfalls are still not in the Pre-Covid levels, yet they are pretty good.
In this article, we have listed down some of the popular Shopping Malls in Bangalore and how they have incorporated the safety options to make the shopping experiences safer.
Garuda Mall: This Shopping Mall in the heart of Bangalore is one of the oldest in the city. Being an old one, the room for manoeuvre to upgrade to the latest safety norms is slightly difficult. Efforts have been made, though. On the entrance, there is a kind of sanitisation unit through which you need go through and it sprays some kind of disinfectant. This is unique for Garuda Mall and we did not see anything like that in any other Shopping Malls. Garuda Mall did not have too many washrooms and in terms of maintenance, they always lacked the quality of the other Shopping Malls. The hygiene conditions in the washrooms have still not improved much in the New Normal.
Orion Mall: Orion Mall in Rajaji Nagar in the West part of Bangalore is on an enormous complex with the World Trade Centre and a 5 Star Hotel just by its side. It also has a man-made lake in its courtyard. Efforts have been made to make the shopping experience safer. There are social distancing signs everywhere. Sanitizers are available throughout and most of the shops provide that to you when you enter for shopping. The Wash Basins are now fitted with sensors and washrooms was cleaned and sanitized almost continuously.
Phoenix Market City: This massive Shopping Complex in East Bangalore have geared up for the New Normal. Parking tickets are removed for a flat charge so that the touch points are removed. The Washrooms are cleaned pretty regularly and signs are placed everywhere. This Shopping Mall draws a large amount of crowd, but due to its size it never looked overcrowded.
RMZ Galleria Mall: RMZ Galleria Mall in North Bangalore is a new one, just 2 years old and we found this Mall to be best equipped for the safety measures. Ample number of staffs help to guide the visitors. The lift lobbies have staffs operating the lift buttons and they were always wearing masks and gloves thereby reducing the touch points. Washrooms are sanitized continuously. The Escalators handrails are sanitized almost regularly, something we haven’t seen in any other Shopping Mall. Sanitizers are available almost everywhere and most of the shops have foot operated sanitizer dispensers making them safer.
Overall, we were pretty impressed by the safety measures taken by these Shopping Malls. All the Shopping Malls check for temperatures before entering. Most of the visitors too, are acting responsibly and wearing masks and ensuring social distancing.
