Dubai over the past few years, have emerged as one of the key tourist destinations of the World. This city in UAE has the tallest building in the World. It also has the largest shopping mall in the world.

We visited Dubai in January 2021 amidst the pandemic and we were happy to see most of the attractions and restaurants open and all of them following the necessary guidelines for social distancing and other health requirements. On our entire travel to Dubai, we rarely saw anyone not using masks in enclosed spaces.

In this article, we will write about some of shopping places in Dubai and also, we will write about Burj Khalifa, the tallest building of the world.

The Dubai Mall: One of the best places to start the Dubai Tour would be to visit The Dubai Mall. This is the largest Shopping Mall in the World in terms of Total Land Area and has about 1200 stores. The area is so huge, that it is easy to get lost. They do have information kiosks and directions written on boards; however, it might get a bit confusing at times.

Along with the shops, The Dubai Mall also has a lot of entertainment areas which are unique and sets it apart from the other shopping malls.

At one end of the Mall, it has an indoor Waterfalls.

The Shopping Mall also has an Ice Rink which is pretty big in size.

One popular destination in this Shopping Mall is Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. The aquarium is a Large Tank which has different types of fish including different types of Sharks. A part of the Aquarium is visible from the mall. If you buy the tickets, you get the opportunity to walk under the tank and walk is really outstanding with the Aquarium on all 3 sides. 2 levels above the aquarium is the Underwater Zoo and it has a wide variety of fish and nocturnal animals. It does have a couple of crocodiles too.  For an extra ticket you can have Penguin encounter and shark encounter.

Another key attraction in the Dubai Mall is The Dubai Fountain. This is a musical fountain with a gorgeous view of Burj Khalifa in the background. Do remember to check for the timings for the musical fountain show.

From The Dubai Mall, is the entrance to At The Top, the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa. The walk towards the lift has details on the construction of the building and then a high-speed elevator zooms to 124th Floor and the view from here is just mind blowing. You get to see the City, the Desert around it and the Sea on one side. There are stairs to 125th Floor from 124th Floor and there is a viewing gallery as well. Both the Floors offers spectacular views and this one should not be missed.

If you want to use Public Transport, Dubai Metro has a station named Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa and this station has moving walkways that connects to The Dubai Mall.

La Mer: Another good place to spend an evening in Dubai would be to visit La Mer. This is an interesting area by the Beach and has a number of restaurants and the decor here is amazing. Plenty of areas have been made ‘Instagram friendly’, where you can take amazing pictures and selfies with interesting backgrounds. There is a water park as well. However, it was closed when we visited.

Mall of the Emirates: Another important Mall in Dubai is the Mall of the Emirates. This  Shopping Mall has a huge number of designer stores. This mall also has Ski Dubai. Ski Dubai is an Indoor Snow Park which has plenty of activities that can be done in snow and it even has a Ski slope.

If you intend to use the public transport, Dubai Metro has a station named Mall of the Emirates which directly connects to the mall.

Souks: A visit to Dubai would be incomplete without a visit to the souks. Souks are traditional Arabian markets and Dubai has quite a few of them. Both the sides of the Dubai Creek, there are a few Souks. On the Deira side, there is the Grand Souk which has the Gold Souk and Spice Souk among others. When we visited the markets, there were just a few buyers, but most of the shops were open.

From Deira, they have small boats (Dubai ABRA) which transports to the Grand Souk Bur Dubai on the other side of the creek and it charges only 1 Dirham. The Grand Souk Bur Dubai has small shops selling different garments and souvenirs. A lot of shops sell Pashmina Kaftans.
