Well, Grand Canyon certainly needs no introduction. Considered as one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World, this massive canyon in Arizona, USA is 277 Miles long and at places, up to 18 Miles wide.
There are plenty of ways of enjoying this beauty, we will share our experience when we visited this place in the Winters.
We did a Day Trip from Las Vegas to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The journey is long, and we got picked up at around 6 in the morning. However, the actual journey begins at around 7 in a coach.
It showed us Lake Mead followed by the Hoover Dam which is one of the largest dams in the World.
It then took us to the Historic Route 66, one of the original Highways of the US Highway System.
We then reached Mather Point in South Rim, Grand Canyon. From Mather Point, we did a 2 Mile hike on the Rim Trail to Bright Angel Lodge and this is certainly, a lifetime experience. Make sure to carry a Map. We missed the Bright Angel Lodge and almost got into another trail. It was the Map that helped us to get back on track.
The hike provides spectacular views of the Canyon, passes by the Yavapal Point and Geology Museum. It also has markings of Trail of time which shows the rock formations over time. The trail is well laid out and is comfortable to walk. However, since we travelled in winter, there was Sleet at some places making it slippery.
The most popular time to visit, is Summers, but you will get lesser crowd in Winters. However, it will be difficult to enjoy the Park during Snow Storms. So, make sure, you check the Weather Forecast. And if you travelling in Summers, make sure you carry Sun Glasses and Caps as there are not too many places to take shelter along this trail.
