The district of Kasargod in Kerala has a long coastline and it is dotted with amazing sea beaches. One attraction in this district is the Bekal Fort. Bekal Fort is a Sea Fort and since 75% of its exterior is in contact with the water, it appears to emerge from the sea.
Close to the Bekal Fort, is the Taj Bekal Resort & Spa, Kerala. Taj Hotels need no introduction and this property boasts of easy access to both the Backwaters and Sea Beach. It offers different kinds of rooms and most of them resemble villas.
When we visited the resort in April this year, we stayed in the Deluxe Villa Courtyard View room and we have to admit that we haven’t stayed in anything like this before. This included a nice courtyard with a fountain, an outdoor bathtub and shower along with 2 sitouts. One of the sitouts had a giant swing bed. Also, the room was spacious and with a nice big bathroom.
Below are the pictures of the Villa where we stayed.
The backwaters run right through the property and the sea beach is just beside the resort. It also has a pretty good swimming pool and a spa.
Below are the pictures from different parts of the Resort.
The food in the restaurant is good and for lunch and dinner, both buffet and a’ la carte options were available. When we visited, 2 restaurants (By The Bay and Backwater Cafe) and the Ivory Bar were operational. However, the bar isn’t too big and prior booking is advisable. The breakfast spread was decent, but it was very crowded when we visited. They had a board outside suggesting the busy period at the breakfast area and early morning breakfast seems the ideal time.
The overall property is big and in the YouTube video below, we have tried to give you a tour of the resort.
There is ample parking available in the resort and it is pet friendly.
Overall, if you are looking for a nice, relaxed 5 Star resort in Kerala, this is certainly a good option.
