Travel to Seychelles

This Tropical Island Country of Africa offers everything from Amazing Beaches, Hiking Trails, Mountains, Water Sports and Great Cuisine. Seychelles is an Island country comprising of 115 islands. However, among them, only three of the islands have most of the accommodation options.

The Only International Airport of Seychelles is in Mahe Island, which also happens to be the largest Island of Seychelles. The Capital of Seychelles, Victoria is situated in the Mahe Island.

For Tourists, Mahe is an wonderful place to stay and most of the tourists to Seychelles stay in Mahe. More than 75% of the population of Seychelles, live in the Mahe Island, and this is where you will find most of the hotels and resorts. Mahe has amazing beaches, National Parks with Hiking Trails in the mountains, a Rum making Factory (Takamaka) etc.

In Mahe, we stayed at Beau Vallon. This is where you will find a lot of resorts, an amazing beach and a large number of eateries along the way.

Beau Vallon, Mahe, Seychelles

Victoria, the Capital of Seychelles is just a couple of Miles from Beau Vallon and is worth a visit if you have some time. This small city of 30,000 people has a Clock Tower, a replica of the Big Ben. It has a market, a couple of Museums and a Botanical Garden.

Throughout Mahe, there are a number of Exotic Beaches and I would suggest you to book a cab for a Day Trip or Half Day Trip and visit those.

Mahe, Seychelles

Another place that is worth a visit in Mahe is the Eden Island. This is a reclaimed island and has a Mall and a Marina and great places to take some beautiful pictures.

If you are going to Seychelles and planning to spend 5 days or more, I would suggest you to visit at least 2 Islands. Alongwith Mahe, you can go to Praslin or La Digue.

In Praslin, we stayed in Cote D’Or. Cote D’Or boasts of an Amazing White Sand Beach that is very good for Swimming.

Cote D'Or, Praslin, Seychelles

Cote D’Or has quite a large number of Cafes and Restaurants. It also has a large number of shops for tourists selling Mementos, T-shirts etc.

From Mahe, if you want to go to La Digue or Praslin, you can take the Catamarans. They are Fast Ferries and are operated by Cat Cocos. Fares aren’t too expensive. From Mahe to Pranslin, it takes about an hour. La Digue is about 30 minutes from Praslin.

One thing to keep in mind is that Seychelles is relatively more expensive than the other Tropical Countries.

The Currency of Seychelles is Seychellois rupee. However, Euro is also accepted almost everywhere. There are ATMs available in both Mahe and Praslin. So, if you have an International Card, Currency should not be a problem.

Seychelles is a Visa Free Country for tourists. However, you would need to show them the Return/Onward journey ticket and the Confirmation Details about your Hotel Bookings. So, keep them handy when you are going for the Immigration.
