We all love Superheroes and most of the Superheroes are either part of Marvel Comics or the DC Comics. The last 15 years or so we have seen some amazing movies produced from Hollywood and really most the Marvel Universe and DC Universe are now enriched with some blockbuster movies. Some of the actors literally immortalised some of the characters and we worship those Superheroes a little more.
In this article, I will compare some of the characters from Marvel and DC Universe based on the Superhero Movies in the recent years.
Here we go:
Iron Man vs Batman: Marvel introduced Iron Man in Movies in 2008 and this was the first film that would begin the journey of an enormous set of movies which would go on to become the most successful movies (Avengers) in Hollywood of all times. Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/ Iron Man is fabulous and is probably the most loved Superhero of the Marvel Universe. There were quite a few Batman Movies made before 2005, but Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy gave a new life to the characters of the Gotham City. Batman was always extremely popular, more so because of his gadgets and his car, the Batmobile. The Dark Knight Trilogy had Christian Bale as Batman and the more recent ones had Ben Affleck playing Batman. However, for me, Robert Downey as Iron Man easily beats Batman for the love he received. While Batman is often depressed and fighting his inner demons as well, Iron man is bright, extremely smart and at times, arrogant. Both the characters though are heroes that are close to our hearts and we always hope to be like them even if we don’t have the Superpowers 😊.
Superman vs. Captain America: Both Superman and Captain America stand for their virtue. Superman was not born in the Earth and came from Krypton. However, he would do anything for the people of Earth. Superman too was in Hollywood for quite some time now, while Captain America was introduced in movies in 2011 and Chris Evans has acted as Captain America in all the movies. Many brilliant actors played Superman and Henry Cavill is playing as Superman in the last few movies. For me, Superman beats Captain America because his powers are more and most importantly, Superman can fly 😊.
Wonder Woman vs Captain Marvel: Captain Marvel plays a very important role in defeating Thanos in the Avengers. She was introduced in movies in 2019 and is played by Brie Larson. Wonder Woman was introduced in movies in 2017 and was extremely successful. Gal Gadot is brilliant as Wonder Woman. What makes Wonder Woman ahead of Captain Marvel is that she is more relatable. She is falling in love in one time and the next moment she is taking on a mighty enemy. She has not taken anyone as mighty as Thanos yet, but Superman and Batman needed her to protect themselves in the movie Superman vs Batman, what else do you need? 😊
Thanos vs Joker: Both DC and Marvel Universe had some dreadful villains. Thanos is certainly the biggest villain in the Marvel Universe. He is so powerful that he could destroy half of the Universe when he had the Infinity Stones. All the superheroes of the Marvel Universe even when combined, found it extremely difficult to defeat him. Joker, on the other hand does not have any superpower. But what makes him so dangerous is that he can get inside your head. He is complex and cunning, he is mad, yet sounds logical. He is so real that he makes you feel uncomfortable. The character is complex and 2 unbelievable performances by Heath Ledger in ‘The Dark Knight’ and Joaquin Phoenix in ‘Joker’ gave new dimensions to this Character. Heath Ledger’s Joker is the most dangerous villain that I have seen in movies so far as he not only commits the crimes, he actually plays with your mind. Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker on the other hand is a normal guy who breaks at a certain point and becomes the supervillain that he is. I don’t know, if this happened before, both Heath Ledger and Joaquim Phoenix won the Oscars for playing the same character, Joker.
So, this is the comparison of the of the main characters of the DC and Marvel Universe that for me, had the biggest influence. While Marvel did an amazing job of introducing quite a large number of characters in movies, DC probably did a better job on building the characters.
Do let me know what you think and what additional characters that you think, I should’ve compared?
