Sports Shows to Watch

If you love watching sports, both Netflix and Amazon Prime has some amazing shows for you. If you are a fan of Cricket, Football/ Soccer or Formula 1, we have hand picked some of the shows that you can watch on Amazon Prime or Netflix.

This is football -> This Amazon Prime Original is a 6 Episode series which shows why football goes beyond just a game to a way of life. It starts with Rwanda and shows how a group of Liverpool fans connect among themselves. They have survived the civil war and genocide in their country and football has provided them with hope and positivity. It then moves to Japan’s Women’s which provided inspiration to women across the world. It then highlights how luck plays in role in the game and covers German Football clubs. After covering Iceland, Brazil and India, the last episode of this series, covers Lionel Messi, probably the best footballer of all times. This series makes you realise how powerful this game is, how bigger is its coverage and how massive a role it can play to bring positivity to the people around the globe.

The Test: A New Era for Australia’s Team -> This one is a new Amazon Prime Original and started streaming from March 2020 and has 8 episodes. This series starts just after the ‘sandpaper’ incident when Cameron Bancroft was caught using sandpaper to polish the ball in a test match in South Africa. This incident was certainly one of the lowest points in Australian cricket and resulted in the suspension of Bancroft, Steve Smith (Captain) and David Warner (Vice Captain). Also, the Australian Coach, Darren Lehmann decided to step down due to this incident. The documentary team follows the Australian Cricket Team for 18 months after this incident and captures their journey with the New Coach, Justin Langer and New Captain, Tim Paine. This series is exciting, shows how the dressing room works, highlights the emotions that the players go through. This is a must watch if you are a cricket fan.

Formula 1: Drive to Survive -> This Netflix Original is comprising of 2 seasons so far and Season 1 captures 2018 F1 Series and season 2 captures the 2019 F1 Series. The best part of this series is that it does not follow one driver or constructor but attempts to cover all of them. It shows the rivalry between the drivers, the competition the drivers have with their team mates, their insecurities, the financial management that the constructors go through, the engineering feats that they achieve and of course, how all of them translates into the races. Normally, we get to see the Drivers who are Face, and Team Principals, who are the Brains of the team. This this show tries to show the entire body of an F1 Team, including the owners, the financers, the engineers, the pit crew and their families. If you are a fan of Formula 1, you would love this series. If you are just starting to watch F1, once you watch this series, your love for Formula 1 would increase.

All or Nothing: Manchester City -> I love English Premier League Football, but do not support Manchester City, so I was sceptical in watching this. However, the football break due to the virus, pushed me to watch this series 😊. This is a part of the amazing ‘All or Nothing’ series of Amazon Prime, where they spend a season with a team and covers their highs and lows. This series covers the EPL Season of ‘17-‘18 where Manchester earned their record breaking points to win the English Premier League. This was Pep Guardiola’s 2nd season in the City and they were roaring in all quarters. We get to see the dressing room atmosphere, the coach’s meetings and practice sessions which are normally unavailable elsewhere. If you are a Man City fan, this series is to die for. For others, this is certainly worth a watch.
